Almond Flour

Uren’s almond flour is made from finely ground, high-quality blanched almonds, offering a naturally mild, nutty flavour and a versatile, gluten-free option for food manufacturers.

Our almond flour is ideal for creating products that cater to modern dietary trends, including gluten-free, keto, and low-carb recipes. We source our almonds from expert growers in California and other premium almond-producing regions, ensuring that our almond flour meets the highest standards of quality.

Sourcing and Production

Our almonds are sourced from BRC accredited growers in California, Spain, and Australia, with California being the leading global producer of almonds, responsible for 80% of the world’s supply. The almonds are harvested during the late summer months, and after careful drying and processing, the nuts are shelled and ground into a fine flour. This process preserves the nutritional integrity of the almonds, delivering a product that is not only flavourful but also nutrient-dense.

Nutritional Profile

Almond flour is highly valued for its balanced nutritional content, making it a popular ingredient in health-conscious and specialised diets.

  • Healthy Fats: Almond flour contains around 50g of unsaturated fat per 100g, predominantly heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, which are beneficial for cardiovascular health.
  • Protein: With 21-24g of protein per 100g, almond flour is an excellent source of plant-based protein, contributing to muscle repair and growth.
  • Carbohydrates: While the total carbohydrate content is around 21-24g per 100g, the net carbohydrate count (total carbs minus fibre) is much lower, making almond flour suitable for keto and low-carb diets.
  • Vitamins and Minerals: Almond flour is rich in key micronutrients, including Vitamin E, providing 35% of the recommended daily intake, and magnesium at 19% of the recommended daily intake. It is also a good source of phosphorus, which is essential for bone health and energy production.

Functional Benefits

Almond flour's naturally high fat content (around 50%) contributes to its ability to create moist, tender baked goods. It enhances recipes with its mild flavour and helps provide a satisfying texture, whether you're using it in cakes, cookies, or breads. Its high protein content not only supports nutrition but also improves the structural integrity of baked goods, especially in gluten-free and low-carb recipes.

Applications

Almond flour is a versatile ingredient, perfect for use in:

  • Baking: Almond flour is ideal for creating soft, moist gluten-free cakes, pastries, cookies, and breads.
  • Keto and Low-Carb: Thanks to its low net carbohydrate content, almond flour is a go-to ingredient for keto and low-carb diets.
  • Thickening: Almond flour works well as a thickener in soups and sauces, adding a smooth, creamy consistency.
  • Snacks: It’s also perfect for energy bars, snack bars, and nut-based granolas.
