The bean sprout, also known as mung bean sprouts, is of Asian origin and is extensively cultivated and consumed in East Asia. The bean sprout is a thin white sprout that is produced out of a mung bean and is used to add flavour, colour, and texture to a variety of dishes.

The bean sprout is a popular ingredient in Asian cuisine, that is used in a wide array of dishes in China, Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, and South Korea. They are a popular ingredient to add a crunchy texture and flavour to stir fry, salads, and noodle dishes and are often used as a filling inside spring rolls and dumplings. They are also a popular ingredient in vegan, vegetarian, and health food dishes as the bean sprout is a great source of protein, iron, and vitamins A and C and is low in fat and calories.

IQF bean sprouts have the same colour, taste, crunchy texture, and impressive nutritional profile of fresh bean sprouts, with the convenience and longer shelf life of a frozen product.

Process

Uren’s bean sprouts are sourced from our expert, BRC accredited suppliers in China. The bean sprout is grown by soaking a harvested mung bean in water and placing it in the shade until the roots grow long, this process can take anywhere from 2-5 days, depending on how long you want the bean sprouts to be. After beans sprouts are harvested from the mung bean, they are individually quick frozen at incredibly low temperatures, to ensure maximum freshness and a free-flowing product.
