Baby corn, also known as young corn, cornlets, and baby sweetcorn, is a cereal grain taken from corn which is harvested early while the stalks are still small and immature. It typically is eaten whole – cob included – in contrast to mature corn, whose cob is too tough for human consumption. Baby corn can be eaten both raw and cooked and is a popular ingredient in a range of Asian dishes, most commonly stir-fry, noodle soups, and Thai curries.

IQF baby corn has the same sweet taste, crunchy texture, health benefits, and nutrients as fresh baby corn but with the long shelf life and increased convenience of a frozen product.

Process:

Uren’s IQF baby corn is sourced from our BRC accredited suppliers in Thailand, China, and Vietnam and is of the highest quality.

Baby corn is usually harvested early before the corn matures and is handpicked from the corn plant. When the baby corn has been harvested it is taken back to the factory to be washed, quality checked and cut to size. The baby corn is then individually quick frozen at incredibly low temperatures to prevent the formation of ice crystals, lock in freshness, and ensure a free-flowing product.
