Tori Parry, Commercial Admin at Uren Food Group, will participate in the Mighty Hike Lake District Walk 2023 to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Taking place on 17th June, the challenging route is a full marathon, starting at Dalemain House and Gardens and ending at Lowther Castle, Lowther, Penrith.
Tori has been training hard for the hike, which she expects will take around 12 hours to complete, in order to be able to take on the tough terrain. She says of the challenge: "The way I see it is, it’s only a fraction of what people go through every day living with Cancer and Macmillan helps families deal with these struggles. This is a cause so close to not just me but everyone I know who has been affected."
Macmillan Mighty Hikes are gruelling yet rewarding challenges, with full support from start to finish. As well as raising vital funds, they're a great way to get active and enjoy the outdoors with friends, family or colleagues – while knowing you're making a real difference to people living with cancer.
The CSR group at Uren, of which Tori is a part, has already generously given a donation of £250 towards her fundraising goal. Tori is hoping to raise even more through sponsorship - every pound donated will go towards helping Macmillan provide vital services and support for people affected by cancer. "I would like to say a massive thank you in advance for any donations", says Tori. "It really does mean the world and will make such a difference."
